Finding the right balance in agricultural policy. FAS Scotland, Women in Agriculture Event, Murrayfield 28/2/2024

A presentation to, and discussion, with c.150 participants at the FAS Scotland Women in Agriculture "Finding the Balance" event on the future of agricultural support. Covered future policy design including the whole farm plan concept as entry level standards for Tier 1 Base support, conditional Tier 2 enhanced conditions, changes in the private sector and evolving market demands. Changes expected in 2025 to bring in peatland and wetland protection under a new GAEC, calving intervals on Scottish Suckler Beef Support Scheme and elements of a whole farm plan as BPS entry level standards were also covered.
